There's a baby in there!

First time mother: Excited and thrilled with a healthy dose of straight up fear!

Well, didn’t actually get a chance to post week 39 during the actual week 39, as 2 days later Suzanna Rose decided she wanted to come into the world.  The most amazing experience and I still get a little teary eyed just thinking about it.  Nothing like I expected, but so much more.  She was 7lbs. 8oz. and 21 inches long.  I look at her now (6 days old) and can’t believe she even fit in me!

Wow!  Week 37!  I’m considered full term!  I’ve started to feel really achy in my pelvic region lately, I think just all the pressure and weight.  Plus, my feet really hurt if I don’t wear decent shoes and right now, not many of my shoes fit anymore.  I’m hoping it’s just the swelling and that my feet haven’t grown, like I’ve heard can happen, but if that’s the case, so be it!
These last few weeks have definitely become more difficult.  For having such an easy pregnancy, it’s hard to imagine feeling like this for the full 9 months.  And it’s not that I necessarily feel bad, just tired, worn down, energy-less.  Plus, I have pregnancy carpal tunnel in my fingers- they feel tingly and achy all the time, like I’ve been sitting on them or something.  It’s a really weird feeling.
However, on the plus side, only 3 weeks left (unless she decides to cook a little longer, and I’m okay with that too)!  I’m really pumped for the birth- I feel confident and prepared and I’m totally stoked about getting food afterwards.  The hospital we’re going to is known for their spectacular maternity ward and food service!  It seems like a weird motivator, but hey, whatever works!

Week 32!
Oh boy, we’re really heading into the home stretch!  And I really need to remember to check my hair before I get my picture taken- yikes!  I swear it looks decent normally!
Otherwise, things are going well!  My feet hurt, but I’ve had minimal swelling and I’m starting feel heartburn occasionally at night.  Honestly, not too much to complain about.  I have noticed that I move a lot slower and I think there might be a bit of a waddle there too.  Not much longer now though!
We do not, however, have the nursery done.  We’ve got a decent start on it, but it seems like our weekends are starting to fill up super quickly and time is running out!  Hubby is freaking out a little bit too!  We live in an old house (built 1905!) and the previous owners had decided to paint over 2 layers of wallpaper.  So last weekend we rented a steamer and wow- does that work well!  That stuff came off like buttah!  There are just a few cracks in the walls that need patched and then we’ll be priming soon (this weekend I hope!) and painting.  I guess that’s really all that needs to be done, minus moving everything back in there.  I cannot wait until it’s done though.  I’m dying to have the crib set up and to fold and hang up all the cute clothes we’ve gotten so far.  Plus, I need to get my garden tilled and going, but I don’t want to make hubby do that until the nursery is done.
It will get done, I know, but it is just going so painfully slow and I feel like there’s not much I can do to really help out.
Has anyone tried the no VOCs paint and what did you think of it?

Week 30!
I can’t believe there’s roughly 10 weeks left until she arrives!  I’m so excited and yet feel so unprepared!  We took a little road trip this past weekend to an Ikea to get her crib and a few other storage items for the nursery and our house, but we still need to paint the nursery!  I’ve got all these clothes and things that I would love to fold or hang up or set out, but right now they are all sitting in bags!
Otherwise, I’m feeling great!  She seems to be moving a lot more or at least her movements feel a lot stronger.  I’m so ready to meet her, even if we don’t have her room ready.

Week 28!
Got to have my glucose tolerance test today- not too bad.  The sugar drink wasn’t nearly as big as I dreaded thought it would be.  Also got the Rhogam shot since I have O negative blood type.  All went well though and we even got to have another ultrasound done!  She’s up to 3lbs now!  I can’t believe how big she’s getting and so fast too!
I also met with a woman this week about cloth diapers.  She carries a couple of different brands and brought them with her so I and a friend of mine who was interested too could get an up close look at them and see how they look and feel.  She only operates locally, so if you live near the Fort Wayne, IN area, definitely check her out here.  Before, I knew I wanted to do cloth diapers, but wasn’t real sure how it all worked and I got really overwhelmed by all the different types out there.  After meeting with her, I feel so much more confident and knowledgeable about cloth diapers and I’m so excited about using them!  I really feel like this is the right choice for us as a family.
Ahhh, one more thing I get to check off my to-do list!  Hurray!

Hello Third Trimester!!!

Today is the first day of the third trimester!  I’m excited, a little anxious and I can’t believe how quickly this is going!  I enjoyed the second trimester immensely I’m really hoping the third is just as enjoyable.  Looking back at my belly pics is so funny because I thought I was ‘showing’ by week 10- ha!  I think within the past 3-4 weeks is when I’ve really started to pop and man, I feel like the belly gets bigger by the day.  I love it though- what pregnant woman doesn’t?

I’ve also been getting super excited about getting to do things as a family- SouleMama has been a huge provider of this.  Her post on just drawing with your kids just solidified how it’s the simple things of spending time with your kids that will make a big difference.  No special equipment, trips, or tickets required- just some paper and crayons.

These are the things I’m looking forward to doing.

Week 24/25!
Life is good!  Those crazy hunger pangs have calmed down for the most part and I feel great!  I love my growing baby bump and feeling her kicks grow stronger.  Sometimes I’ll just stare at my stomach watching her little fists, feet, legs and elbows bump my abdomen.  She’s such a mover that even the doctor had a hard time getting her heartbeat she was moving around so much.
Plus, we’ve finally started acquiring some baby things.  My sister brought over a bassinet and swing and we bought a nice chair for the nursery.  We still need to paint the nursery, but I feel like we’re finally starting to get things done and that feels good.

I love these booties!  I found the pattern on Ravelry.com and they turned out even cuter than I thought.  The pattern is called Saartje’s Bootees and they’re actually pretty easy to knit.  I plan on making a few more for friends who are pregnant.

Week 22 1/2!
The belly is quite pronounced, though I think if I didn’t wear any maternity shirts and went a size up in my clothes, you might not be able to tell I was pregnant.  At least to a stranger.  However, I’m quite proud of my belly and like to show it off when I can!
I love being able to feel her move inside me now.  It’s absolutely amazing!  I can distinguish the kicks and punches from the twists and squirms too.  She’s definitely having a ball in there!  Though I wonder does she squirm when I eat something because she likes it or can’t stand it?  Hard to say, but I like to think it’s because she likes it!
